Current Projects/Commissions
Voices Carry
Date Started: June 2015
Type of Project: Independent Documentary Film Series
Progress: Ongoing.
Details: A documentary film series using my own story and those of other's as a catalyst to promote and raise awareness about rape culture in America and the hideous backlog of rape-kits that have not been processed for decades. How survivors live after sexual trauma and the effects of PTSD.
Fully and independently backed and supported by volunteers, and donated funding. Voices Carry is a new and upcoming Documentary Film Series dedicated to telling the real, raw, and uncensored survivors' stories, revealing the injustice, sexual assault victims often endure. The series intends to examine why there are so many untested rape kits across the USA, and to address the need to end the Rape Culture we see so much of in society. The series hope is to give a Voice to those who have previously been unheard, and detail the aftermath of living as a survvor of sexual asssault.
Voices Carry hopes to act as an advocate for eliminating the Backlog of Untested Rape Kits, for expanding Mental Health Care Reform for Victims of all Sex Crimes, effective After-Care for Victims and their Families, and for Tougher Laws and Harder Sentences for those convicted of Sex Crimes. We are determined to spread the word that sexual violence will no longer be accepted or tolerated. We are also promoting a Common Sense Bill of Rights for Sexual Assault Survivors that protect all victims of sexual violence.
In addition to the film series, the Voices Carry web site will also feature survivors' written accounts of their experiences. (More likely to be seen here before videos are ready to add.)
The Voices Carry web site will change and grow as new stories are added and public policies continue to change at local and federal levels.
